Bosch Greensource CDi Series TW122 10 Ton Model Geothermal Heat Pump Review

Bosch-Greensource-TW122What’s the best thing about a geothermal heat pump? Do you know? Too many Americans have yet to hear about the reliable energy savings and excellent air comfort that geothermal heat pumps can provide. Fortunately our geothermal heat pump reviews can give you the information you need to make an informed decision about these increasingly popular residential HVAC solutions.

So, let’s talk about the Bosch Greensource CDi Series TW122 Model geosource system.

Pros

  • The TW122 Model is a high efficiency water-to-water product that currently meets the tough US DoE Energy Star standard. It’s ruggedness and reliability is comparable to what you would find in a similar industrial-grade product.

  • The unit features a scroll compressor for high performance efficiency, dual density compressor blanket, a prepainted G90-steel cabinet, Comfort Alert diagnostic module, Schrader access ports, UPM unit protection module standard in -CSC and -CSN models, and lockout circuit.

  • The TW122 features very strong warranty coverage. It comes with a 10-Year Compressor Warranty, a 10-Year Refrigerant Circuit Warranty, a 10-Year Labor Allowance for the refrigerant circuit, and a 10-Year Internal Parts Warranty.

Cons

  • Let’s talk about efficiency, because that’s the main selling point on a geothermal heat pump. The TW122 offers decent energy efficiency, but it’s not the best in a very competitive market. You can find better, and you may want to do just that.

  • The TW122 features solid components, but, again, not the very best. A dual-stage scroll compressor with superior reliability and energy efficiency would be a far better choice than the single-stage inside the TW122.

Bottom Line

This is a good geothermal heat pump with some meaningful pros and cons. Its sturdy, reliable, and has some of the best warranty protection in the business. On the other hand, there are a lot stronger options when it comes to energy efficiency. Overall, it’s a good unit, but if you prioritize energy efficiency, look elsewhere.

So what units would you recommend over the bosch?

    • Kyle Davis

I would recommend the GeoCool 2-stage, Daikin McQuay Smartsource, or a ClimateMaster Tranquility 30. All are really solid options.
