United States Approves 520 Megawatts

geothermal power plant

The United States Interior Department today, in a statement posted on their website, said the country will move forward with two solar farms and one geothermal energy project. Neither total costs or who is expected to receive the power has is being disclosed. They did say that all three of these projects will be built on federal land in Arizona.

Since Barack Obama has been president, the U.S. has doubled its use of renewable energy. The projects announced by the Interior Department today are part of the Obama administrations strategy of promoting a wider use of solar, wind and geothermal on federal lands.

Bringing these renewable energy projects online will power more than 200,000 homes. That is a step in the right direction for solar and geothermal energy use in the United States. I think we can all agree on that.
